There are many public holidays in Peru that celebrates religious and cultural events. During these public holidays it is generally known that government offices will close and private businesses will reduce opening hours or shut down all together. Generally the majority of public transport will still operate and provide services regardless of the holiday. Please note these are national holidays, but local and regional governments also hold localized public holidays in their areas throughout the year.
The following are nationally observed public holidays:
•New Year’s day: 1st of January
•Candle mass: 2nd of February
•Carnival: Dates vary yearly but usually occur in February and March
•Easter: Dates vary yearly but usually occur in March and April
•Labour day: 1st of May
•Festival of the Cross: 2nd and 3rd of May
•Corpus Christi: Around the beginning of June
•Inti Raymi/ Winter Solstice: 24th of June
•Virgin de Carmen: July 15th to 17th
•Independence day: 28th& 29th of July
•Santa Rosa de Lima: 30th of August
•Battle of Angamos: 8th of October
•Lord of the Miracles: 18th of October
•All Saints day: 1st of November
•All Souls day: 2nd of November
•Feast of the Immaculate Conception: 8th of December
•Christmas Day: 25th of December
